Your questions, our answers

The Essentials
What is an escape room, and what makes AdventureRooms special?
A real live experience: your team enters a room full of secrets. Your goal: solve all the puzzles with logic, skill and teamwork within 60 minutes and find the exit. Every game in Basel is one of a kind, developed by ourselves. No prior knowledge needed.
How long has AdventureRooms been around?
AdventureRooms is Switzerland's escape room original: in Switzerland since 2014, in Basel since 2017. Every game is unique and developed in-house.
What occasions is it suitable for?
For everything that is fun: birthdays, bachelor parties, family outings, team building events, corporate events and exciting school trips.
When can you play?
Games run daily between 8:00 am and 10:30 pm, 365 days a year, including holidays. Important: we are on site by appointment only, book your slot online or call us.
Booking, Prices & Vouchers
How much does an escape room in Basel cost?
In the indoor rooms the game costs per person: CHF 47 (2 people), CHF 42 (3), CHF 38 (4), CHF 34 (5), CHF 32 (6 or more). Prices for the outdoor games and the online game are on the respective game page. You pay a deposit online and the rest on site.
How do I book?
Simply check the booking page of your preferred game for available slots. Large group or special times? No problem, write to us and we will find a flexible solution.
How early should we book?
For specific dates, book as early as possible. If you are flexible, spontaneous bookings often work too. A tip from experience: the worse the weather (extreme heat, rain or cold), the earlier you should book, as the indoor rooms fill up quickly.
How can we pay?
You pay a deposit online by credit card and the rest on site in cash or by card. No credit card? Pay the deposit via TWINT or reserve directly with us. Companies, schools and registered clubs can simply pay by invoice.
Can we reschedule an appointment?
Yes, up to 48 hours before your slot we reschedule you once free of charge. After that, the deposit is forfeited.
Can I buy vouchers?
Yes, vouchers are available online, instantly as a PDF to print or give away.
How do the vouchers work?
Two options: Print@Home arrives instantly by e-mail and can be personalised with your own text and design. Or the voucher by post, hidden in the secret compartment of a small wooden box (within 4 working days, express pickup by arrangement). Redeem via WhatsApp or e-mail without a deposit; remaining amounts are settled on site.
The Games
What age are the games suitable for?
TOKEN and HORIZON from age 9, CORP. Level I and II from 11. Outdoor: Monster in Basel is made for kids aged 6 to 12 (German only), MiSSiONS from 9, Murder of the Bishop from 12, Auroras Magic Cube from 16 (kids mode from 10), and we recommend the bachelor special from 16, though younger guests are welcome to join. Children from age 6 are welcome, accompanied by adults. And toddlers may join the game if the parents wish.
Which languages can you play in?
The four indoor rooms, MiSSiONS, the bachelor special and the online game Pegasus Project are playable in German, English and French, ideal for international groups. Murder of the Bishop and Auroras Magic Cube are available in German and English, Monster in Basel exclusively in German.
How many people can play?
Indoor: standard 2 to 6 people per room, from 7 players in duel mode up to 12 (exception CORP. Level II: 2 to 6, no duel). Several rooms run in parallel. Outdoor: MiSSiONS starts from 4 people, open-ended up to well over 100. Only two of you? Ask us, we will find a solution. If your group size changes, just let us know at reception.
What is a duel?
The ultimate competition! From 7 players, two teams compete against each other (from 8 players at Auroras). After the half-time break, roles are swapped. Who is faster? Outdoors, any number of teams compete simultaneously at MiSSiONS.
Can two of us play?
Yes, all indoor rooms can be played from 2 people, as can most outdoor games and the online game Pegasus Project.
Which game is best for beginners?
Indoor, TOKEN is the ideal introduction. Outdoor, MiSSiONS is perfect because you choose your own pace and missions. For an overview of all games with age, duration and recommendation, see our game comparison.
Are the games scary?
No. Our games are thrilling but not horror: no actors jumping at you, no fear factor.
What is the difference between CORP. Level I and II?
CORP. is a two-part escape room adventure with a continuous story, unique in Basel: Level I is the trial, Level II your first mission, in the same environment with completely new puzzles. Level II requires Level I. Play both in one day for 120 minutes of continuous adventure.
Which MiSSiONS variants are there?
MiSSiONS Original, the classic with creative and crazy tasks across Basel. MiSSiONS The Basel Challenge, diving deeper into Basel's history. And the bachelor special with 18 wedding-themed missions.
What do we need for the online game Pegasus Project?
Ideally a computer or laptop; phones can be used in addition. One Facebook account in the group is helpful (it also works without, there is a helper link in the game), Instagram requires no account of your own. You can connect from different locations, and your access code stays valid until the case is solved.
Groups & Events
Is it suitable for corporate events, and is it really fun?
Yes, for everyone: puzzling is about teamwork, not fitness or prior knowledge, which is why mixed groups have the best experience. In tournament format up to 54 people compete at our place; with Missions on Tour we come to your company from 20 people, with no upper limit. Over 200 Google reviews with 4.7 stars speak for themselves.
What happens if it rains during the outdoor games?
We find a solution together: in consultation with you we switch to an indoor game or reschedule, up to 24 hours in advance. Playing in the rain also works: at MiSSiONS you do not have to reach fixed locations and choose your own routes. The tablet games (Murder of the Bishop, Auroras Magic Cube) follow a fixed route.
Can we bring a cake to the kids' birthday party?
Yes, just bring the favourite cake, no crumb chaos at home. After the game, comfy sofas await for cake and presents, our GameMasters accompany the kids in the indoor games, and you parents enjoy your coffee in the meantime.
Are there special prices for schools?
Yes, just ask us. AdventureRooms actually started as a physics teacher's school project: our puzzles promote logic, teamwork and communication, ideal for school trips and project weeks.
Are there drinks, or do you organise an apéro?
Drinks are available on site. We are happy to organise an apéro before or after the game, with regional snacks and drinks. For large groups there is our standing dinner, and on request we also reserve a suitable restaurant in Basel city for you.
On Site
How long does a visit take, and when should we arrive?
Plan about 90 minutes in total: 10 minutes introduction, 60 minutes game, 10 minutes debriefing. Arrive on time for your booked start, about 5 minutes early is perfect. If you are more than 10 minutes late, we unfortunately have to shorten the playing time.
How do we find you, and where do we park?
Elisabethenanlage 11, 4051 Basel, just 2 minutes on foot from Basel SBB station. By car: Parkhaus Elisabethen (open 24/7, max height 2.1 m), best park in the rear section towards the Basel SBB / Markthalle exit. All routes on our directions page.
Are the rooms air-conditioned, and are there toilets?
We have both! Our rooms are pleasantly cool in summer and nicely warm in winter.
Is it dangerous?
No! No physical strength required. As long as you follow the rules, it is as safe as a restaurant visit. Pregnant? No problem at all, most welcome.
I am claustrophobic, is that a problem?
Normal claustrophobia is usually no problem, our rooms are spacious. With severe claustrophobia the indoor games are less suitable, but the outdoor games are perfect: fresh air instead of closed rooms.
Is AdventureRooms wheelchair accessible?
TOKEN and HORIZON are 100% accessible. CORP. has a small 10 cm threshold. In the outdoor games you choose the route yourself and adapt it to mobility restrictions.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs cannot join inside the rooms, but you can leave your dog with our GameMaster during the game, in good hands.
Are there any restrictions?
Intoxicated persons are not allowed to play.
Are there photos of our team?
Yes, after the game we take a group photo that you will find on Facebook or Instagram. Feel free to check Google, TripAdvisor or Facebook to see what others say about us.
